For the past month, I have been coordinating my styled shoot with a brand new flower business called The Proper Petal. These girls were nothing but helpful and had great ideas and a lot to offer me. On Saturday, I was finally able to meet one of these ladies, Sarah. She sat in the rain, waiting for me to get there, she carried containers of flowers through muddy ground, and she went with my spontaneous ideas and made them even better than I had thought. This girl truly rocked this photo shoot out! I have been so blessed by The Proper Petal and am so happy to have the chance to share these lovely ladies with you today!
Q:How did the two of you get together to create The Proper Petal? Tell me about the name, how did you decide on The Proper Petal?
A:We met a few years ago through the floral industry and have been "petal-pals" ever since, spending many a late night and weekend creating arrangements while jamming out to 80s tunes. We recognized a need to create a floral service that is truly custom and client-oriented, focusing on tailoring floral design to perfectly complement each wedding or event. The name was definitely a labor of love, but after countless texts with lots of not-so-great names and the discovery of our shared love for alliteration, we stumbled upon The Proper Petal and instantly knew it was right.
Q:What are your favorite types of flowers or arrangement of flowers?
A:It is impossible to pick a favorite! Every bloom has it's perfect time and place, but ranunculus is definitely at the top of the list. After all we did use them in the logo.
Q:When you were growing up, did you always want to work with flowers?
A:Kristen's love for flowers began around age 5, somewhere between midfield and the soccer goal, where her coach often (kindly) reminded her she was supposed to be defending the goal...not hunting and picking wildflowers. Soccer has become a thing of the past, while pesky dandelions have grown into a petal-icious passion for floral design. Sarah has had a penchant for plants and a true love for nature from the very beginning. Her passion for flowers started somewhere along the creek by her childhood home where, regardless of the season, she could be found with a flower crown in her hair and her fair share of mud on her jeans.
Q:What is your favorite type of event to make flowers for and why?
A:We know it sounds a little cliche but we love every type of event. Each one is an opportunity for us to let the client's personality, as well as our own, shine through in our floral design. No two events are ever the same because the people and spirit behind them change.
Q: What can a couple expect from The Proper Petal on their wedding day?
A: Couples can count on us being as involved on their wedding day as their floral order demands. We prefer to do all of the set-up of florals so that we can guarantee everything will be perfect for their big day! Couples can expect a worry-free relationship, and peace of mind that everything will be beautifully arranged, professionally installed, and ready to go in a timely fashion.
Q:How far in advance would a couple need to give for booking you for their wedding?
A:We require a minimum of one month's notice for booking your wedding. This ensures we have ample time to work through all the details and get the perfect blooms ordered. But that being said, we do book on a first come first serve basis so we recommend reaching out as soon as possible to be sure we reserve the date of your special day just for you.
Q: Where can people go to see your work and to get in touch with you?
A:The best place to see our work and get in touch with us is through our Web site, www.theproperpetal.com. Fill out the "contact us" form to share information about yourself and your event, and we will get back in touch within 24 hours. We will happily arrange a meeting and create a complimentary inspiration board and estimate for you to review. We also regularly post to Instagram @TheProperPetal, and Facebook too.
Thank you so much The Proper Petal! I loved working with you and can't wait for more adventures in the future!
